Japanese Electric Truck Maker Eyes Expansion into Southeast Asia
Zo Motors, a Japanese manufacturer of fully electric commercial vehicles, will make its debut at the Singapore Motorshow in January 2025. Founded in 2023 as a subsidiary of Zo Future Group, a Hong Kong-listed company, Zo Motors is aiming to expand its presence in Southeast Asia.
The company has recently set up Zo Motors Singapore, and it is also recruiting locally for roles such as sales executives and electric vehicle engineers.
Zo Motors will showcase the ZM6 and ZM8 – fully electric, medium-duty trucks that are eligible to be classified as heavy-goods vehicles under Singapore’s Land Transport Authority regulations. The trucks, which are made in China, are part of Zo Motors’ global expansion plans that include South America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
These vehicles have already begun sales in Japan, the US, and Canada and are marketed as ZM Trucks in North America and Europe.
