Ivory Coast international signs a four-and-a-half-year contract to reinforce Wolves’ defence.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou, the 27-year-old central defender from Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims. The Ivory Coast international has joined the Premier League club on a four-and-a-half-year contract, with an option for an additional year.
The transfer fee for Agbadou is reported to be around £16.6 million (approximately $20.39 million), marking him as the first signing under the leadership of new manager Vitor Pereira. Agbadou, who previously captained Reims, will aim to strengthen Wolves’ defence, which has been a concern this season, leaving them in 17th place in the Premier League, level on points with Ipswich Town in the relegation zone.
Wolves chairman Jeff Shi expressed enthusiasm about the new arrival, stating, “We’re excited to have Emmanuel on board. He’s a player the recruitment team has been closely monitoring, and Vitor is confident that he possesses the qualities to improve our squad both on and off the field immediately.”
Wolves will aim to turn around their form as they face Bristol City in the FA Cup third round this Saturday.
