False Bomb Threat Sparks Immediate Police Response
Singapore police arrested an 18-year-old on Tuesday, August 9, after he allegedly posted a tweet suggesting that an item would “blow up” under a seat at Row 27 of The Float @ Marina Bay. The incident occurred during the National Day Parade, attended by over 25,000 people.
Swift Action
At 7:10 PM, the police were alerted to the tweet. Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Ang Mo Kio Police Division swiftly identified the suspect, arresting him within two hours.
Authorities confirmed that no suspicious items were found at the venue. Two mobile phones were seized as part of the investigation, which remains ongoing.

Under Singaporean law, communicating false information about a harmful thing is a grave offence, carrying penalties of up to seven years in prison, a fine of S$50,000, or both.
