Tan Chong Meng to replace Hsieh Fu Hua as chair of National University Health System in 2025

Hsieh is retiring at the end of this year

Tan Chong Meng will take over as the chairman of the National University Health System (NUHS) starting January 1, 2025, succeeding Hsieh Fu Hua, who will retire at the end of 2024. The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced the leadership change on December 26.

Tan, aged 64, has been a member of the NUHS board since 2011 and has served as the deputy chairman since December 2022. He currently holds positions as the chairman of JTC Corporation and as a board director at Temasek. Additionally, he has been a member of the National University of Singapore’s board of trustees since April 2024. Tan previously served as the group CEO of port operator PSA International for 12 years.

In his new role, Tan will provide strategic leadership and guide NUHS as it continues to improve its health system and workforce. He will also lead significant infrastructure projects, including the development of the new Tengah General and Community Hospitals, as well as the redevelopment of the Alexandra Hospital and National University Hospital campuses.

Hsieh Fu Hua, who has chaired the NUHS board since 2019, will retire after overseeing several major developments during his tenure, including the merger of JurongHealth institutions Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital with NUHS. He also led the NUHS infrastructure development master plan, which aims to enhance healthcare facilities and services, patient experiences, and expand capacity across the health system.
