SINGAPORE: On Monday (Mar 14), a man was taken into custody for criminal intimidation and possessing an offensive weapon after reportedly brandishing a sword in public in Buangkok. The police were alerted to the incident at approximately 1:55pm, responding to a distress call about a man seen wielding a sword near Buangkok Square.

According to authorities, the man swung the sword at bystanders, injuring two individuals with minor wounds and damaging at least three vehicles. As he continued his attack, the assailant slipped and fell, allowing five quick-thinking members of the public to subdue him.

The police arrived shortly thereafter and arrested the man. The sword was seized as evidence, and investigations are continuing. A video shared with CNA showed the man walking in the middle of the road, striking three moving cars before crossing to the pavement and threatening a pedestrian.
