Accusations of fraud surface as over 200 individuals claim losses
A Singaporean husband-and-wife team is accused of collecting approximately S$32 million from hundreds of customers over six months for luxury goods they failed to deliver. The couple has since become uncontactable, leading to multiple police reports.
Affected customers revealed to Shin Min Daily News that the couple specialised in sourcing branded items, including watches and bags, but left their buyers empty-handed. Around 200 individuals reportedly joined a Telegram group to discuss their shared experiences of paying without receiving goods. The couple allegedly stopped communicating in June 2022.
High-value transactions gone awry
S$700,000 for 7 luxury watches
A 37-year-old man shared he had previously received a genuine Rolex watch worth S$26,000 from the couple in 2021, which encouraged him to order six Rolex and Patek Philippe watches for S$700,000 in early 2022. However, the items never arrived. Despite their claims that delays were due to customs and tax issues, the customer lodged a police report on July 1.
S$20,000 for a single Rolex watch
A 29-year-old marketer, acting on behalf of a friend, paid S$20,000 for a Rolex in May 2022. The couple promised delivery within two weeks but failed to fulfill the order. She filed a police report on July 2.
S$78,000 for 3 Rolex watches
A self-employed 50-year-old man discovered the couple on Carousell and paid them S$78,000 in June 2022. Despite repeated refund requests, the watches never materialised, prompting him to report the matter to the authorities.
S$40,000 for branded handbags
A recent university graduate hoped to resell luxury bags worth over S$40,000 to pay off her tuition loan. The bags were never delivered.
Investigations continue
The couple’s registered shop in Tanjong Pagar and their residence in Holland Road have been abandoned, according to nearby tenants and neighbours. Visitors looking for them reported no response at either location. The couple reportedly moved into their Holland Road home a year ago but have not been seen for weeks.
