Singapore’s visitor arrivals dip in August as travel demand cools due to seasonal factors

Seasonal trends impact tourism, with visitor numbers slightly down from July

Singapore’s international visitor arrivals dropped to 1.31 million in August, reflecting a seasonal dip in travel demand following the mid-year school holidays. This figure is a decrease from the 1.42 million recorded in July, though it remains nearly double the 728,744 visitors seen in August 2022, according to the latest data from the Singapore Tourism Board.

The decline in arrivals is attributed to seasonal factors, with tourism typically cooling after the peak summer travel months. Despite this drop, China remained the top source of visitors to Singapore, followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and Australia. Experts, including Wong Xian Yang from Cushman & Wakefield, noted that the pattern reflects typical trends in tourism demand as schools reopen and travel slows.
