Singapore Sees 2,470 New Covid-19 Cases, 14 Fatalities

Weekly Growth Rate Drops to 1.05, ICU Utilization at 67.1%

On Monday (Nov 1), Singapore reported 14 deaths due to Covid-19 complications, affecting individuals aged between 56 and 95. The Ministry of Health (MOH) noted that all but one of the deceased had pre-existing medical conditions, though specifics were not detailed. This increases the nation’s death toll to 421.

Additionally, 2,470 new infections were recorded, including 2,189 community cases, 278 within migrant worker dormitories, and three imported cases. The weekly infection growth rate has decreased to 1.05 from 1.12, indicating a slight slowdown in the spread since last week’s figures.

The cumulative case count in Singapore has reached 200,844. Currently, 288 patients require oxygen support in general wards, while 67 are in intensive care receiving close observation, and 62 are critically ill on ventilators. ICU capacity utilisation has fallen to 67.1% from 68.3%, with 129 beds taken by Covid-19 patients out of 383 available.

The Institute of Mental Health cluster has seen an increase to 278 cases after adding 11 new infections, with 262 patients and 16 staff affected. Other clusters of concern include Acacia Home in Admiralty (11 new cases), Jamiyah Home for the Aged in Tampines (7 new cases), Orange Valley Nursing Home in Clementi, and Banyan Home @ Pelangi Village in Buangkok (each added 3 new cases), and Bukit Batok Home for the Aged (1 new case).

Vaccination coverage stands at 84% for fully vaccinated, 85% for at least one dose, and 16% for booster shots among the population.
