Singapore Launches Skills Pathway for Cybersecurity

New Initiative Aims to Train and Certify Entry-Level Cybersecurity Professionals

A new initiative in Singapore is set to help workers enter and advance in the cybersecurity sector. Launched by Education Minister Chan Chun Sing on July 9, the Skills Pathway for Cybersecurity offers curated training courses for four entry-level cybersecurity roles. These roles include Cybersecurity Operations Centre Analyst, Cyber Incident Response and Forensics Analyst, Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst, and Cyber Penetration Tester.

Developed by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS), in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and 13 industry partners, the initiative provides training opportunities and industry-recognized certifications to help individuals transition into cybersecurity careers or advance within the sector.

This initiative also connects participants with potential employers, providing pathways to internships and job interviews. The program aims to address the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals in Singapore, which is facing a shortage of skilled workers in the field.

The initiative also supports mid-career workers looking to switch industries. Through MySkillsFuture, individuals can access the courses and certifications needed to enter the field, with available funding support to reduce out-of-pocket expenses.

In the long term, this program will feed into CSA’s national initiative to develop a professional framework for cybersecurity workers, ensuring that training is aligned with industry needs and raising the standards for the profession.
