New Deal Eases Trade and Opens Opportunities for Halal Businesses Between Both Nations
Singapore and Indonesia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to mutually recognize each other’s halal certifications, facilitating easier trade of halal-certified products between the two countries. The agreement also includes provisions for exchanging knowledge in various fields, including technology, human resources, and infrastructure.
The MOU, signed by Kadir Maideen of Muis and Muhammad Aqil Irham of Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency, is expected to benefit both countries by expanding the halal market and boosting business opportunities, particularly for food and beverage manufacturers. This marks the fifth such MOU signed by Muis with halal authorities in Muslim-majority countries.
