Strategic partnerships aim to strengthen economic and technological ties between both nations
Singapore and India have signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance cooperation in digital technologies, semiconductors, education, and healthcare. The agreements were exchanged during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore, in the presence of Singapore PM Lawrence Wong.
Digital Technologies
The MOU on digital cooperation seeks to enhance cybersecurity, improve data flow regulations, and boost business connections between startups and small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) in both countries. A joint working group will be formed to oversee its implementation.
Semiconductors
A semiconductor ecosystem partnership aims to strengthen supply chain resilience and connect industry players in both nations. India is working to become a global chipmaking hub, while Singapore’s established companies are looking to expand into emerging semiconductor markets.
Education and Skills Development
The education agreement focuses on technical training, faculty exchanges, and student internships. Singapore will build on its previous experience in establishing skill centers in India and promote vocational education collaborations.
Healthcare
Both countries will enhance cooperation in disease surveillance, maternal and child health, and pandemic preparedness. The agreement also covers medical research and human resource development in the health sector.
These strategic agreements reflect the growing economic and technological partnership between Singapore and India, paving the way for future collaborations and investments in key industries.
