Singapore and India have officially upgraded their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, aiming to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investments, defence, and digital technologies.

Key Developments
The agreement was announced during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Singapore at the invitation of PM Lawrence Wong.
This milestone comes ahead of the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership in 2025.
Both leaders pledged to strengthen ties in sustainability, advanced manufacturing, connectivity, and regional security.
Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs)
During Modi’s visit, four key MOUs were signed to advance bilateral cooperation in:

Digital technologies – Enhancing cybersecurity, data sharing, and public digital infrastructure.
Semiconductors – Strengthening semiconductor supply chain resilience and private-sector partnerships.
Skill development – Expanding educational and vocational collaborations.
Health and medicine – Partnering on disease surveillance, public health, and pandemic preparedness.
Modi hailed Singapore as an inspiration for developing nations, emphasizing the growing economic and diplomatic synergy between the two countries.
