SIA Group Expands Flights to East Asia Amid Rising Demand

New Services to Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan as Travel Grows

SINGAPORE: The SIA Group is increasing its flight offerings to major East Asian destinations, including Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as travel restrictions ease and demand for international flights rises. From November 1, the group’s passenger network will span 110 destinations across 36 countries and territories, including Singapore, according to a recent company announcement.

As travel demand picks up, especially during the upcoming holiday season, SIA and its low-cost arm, Scoot, are adapting their schedules to accommodate the surge.

Japan and Taiwan Services Enhanced
Starting on October 30, Singapore Airlines will introduce a second daily flight (SQ636) to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, complementing existing services to both Haneda and Narita airports. This will bring the total number of daily flights to Tokyo to four, including the daily service (SQ12) from Singapore to Los Angeles via Narita. Additionally, the Singapore-Osaka service (SQ618) will resume with twice-daily frequencies, and flights to Fukuoka will increase to three per week. Scoot will also ramp up its operations with daily flights to Tokyo and Osaka, alongside seasonal routes to Sapporo.

Increased Frequencies to South Korea and Taiwan
Singapore Airlines will introduce a new daily flight (SQ606) to Seoul starting October 30, increasing its total services to the South Korean capital to three daily. Scoot will also resume its Singapore-Taipei-Seoul route five times a week and expand its Jeju flights to five times per week.

Moreover, the SIA Group is expanding its services to Taiwan, with Scoot operating 18 weekly flights to Taipei starting in November, alongside increased services to Sapporo via Taipei.

Expanding Services to Hong Kong and Mainland China
The SIA Group plans to increase its Hong Kong services from two to three daily flights, pending regulatory approval. Currently, Scoot operates flights to Hong Kong four times a week, which will increase to daily from October 30. Additionally, the SIA Group has resumed services to Beijing, Chengdu, and other points in China, with further increases expected.

JoAnn Tan, Senior Vice President of Marketing Planning, noted that demand for air travel is particularly strong as entry requirements continue to ease in East Asia. She highlighted that many customers are eager to visit destinations that have remained closed for several years, and that the group is prepared to adjust its services to meet growing demand as the holiday season approaches.
