SIA and Scoot to Resume Flights to India Under VTL and Non-VTL Schemes

Singapore Airlines and Scoot announce new flight schedules following VTL introduction

SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) and its low-cost subsidiary Scoot will resume flights to India following the establishment of a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Singapore and India, according to a statement from the airlines on November 23.

SIA will offer both VTL and non-VTL flights, while Scoot will restart only its non-VTL services. Passengers travelling on non-VTL flights to Singapore will still be required to adhere to existing health control measures, including a mandatory 7-day quarantine.

Starting November 29, SIA will operate daily VTL flights from Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai to Singapore. These flights will be available for booking and marked as VTL flights on SIA’s official website. In addition, the airline will progressively launch non-VTL services from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Kolkata to Singapore.

Scoot will begin operating non-VTL flights four times a week between Singapore and Hyderabad from November 30. Additionally, non-VTL flights will operate three times a week between Singapore and Tiruchirappalli starting December 2. From January 2022, Scoot will increase its Singapore-Tiruchirappalli service to five times a week and resume its Singapore-Amritsar route with five weekly non-VTL flights.

SIA reminded passengers that only those eligible for VTL travel may board the VTL flights. Non-Singapore citizens or permanent residents must apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) before applying for a visa.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore previously confirmed that six daily flights will begin on November 29 from Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai to Singapore under the VTL. Applications for VTPs for short-term visitors and long-term pass holders from India began on November 22 at 6 pm Singapore time.

SIA’s shares were trading at S$5.29 at midday on November 24, up 0.4% from the previous day.
