RSAF Officer Suspended Amid Allegations of Trespass and Molestation at NTU

Senior Air Force Officer Faces Charges for Serious Offences

A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) lieutenant colonel, Neo Aik Chiao, 45, has been suspended from all military duties following charges of criminal trespass and molestation. The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) confirmed the suspension and emphasised its commitment to upholding high standards of discipline and integrity.

Incident Details
Neo allegedly trespassed into two dormitory rooms at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on Nov. 13 at around 2am. The victims were aged 18 and 21, with the latter reportedly molested when Neo touched her thigh. Court documents did not specify how Neo gained access to the rooms.

The SAF stated that personnel convicted of serious offences face discharge from regular service, and it will assess court findings to determine further actions.

University and Police Response
An NTU spokesperson underscored the university’s commitment to student safety, stating that police were immediately called to the scene after the incident was reported. Support was provided to the affected students, and security patrols have been increased.

Court Proceedings and Potential Penalties
Neo faces one molestation charge and two counts of criminal trespass. If convicted of molestation, he could face up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, caning, or a combination of these penalties. Criminal trespass convictions carry a maximum jail term of three months, a fine of up to S$1,500, or both.

Neo is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 29, and investigations remain ongoing.
