Popeyes to Open 50 New Outlets in Singapore Over the Next Decade

Expansion Plans Set to Rival Local Fast Food Giants

Popeyes has revealed its ambitious plans to open 50 new outlets across Singapore within the next ten years. This marks a significant expansion for the Louisiana-based fried chicken chain, starting with its 13th outlet set to open at The Rail Mall in Upper Bukit Timah in January 2023.

Currently, Popeyes operates 12 outlets across various locations such as Jurong Point, Bugis Village, and Kallang Wave. The company will now compete with other fast-food giants in Singapore, including McDonald’s, which has 135 outlets, and KFC with over 80. Jollibee has also quickly grown to 15 outlets in its short time in the country.

The expansion follows a new partnership with Fei Siong Group, which has secured the franchise rights to operate Popeyes in Singapore. This agreement will see Fei Siong Group not only managing the existing 12 outlets but also introducing new menu items to cater to local tastes, alongside a fresh redesign of the stores to modernise the brand’s image. Fei Siong, which currently operates over 160 outlets under various brands, is making its first venture into the fast-food market with this deal.

As part of its plans, Fei Siong also intends to expand Popeyes into Malaysia, marking a new chapter in the brand’s growth within the region. The agreement with Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Asia-Pacific, a subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International, grants Fei Siong the rights to develop and operate the fast-food chain across both countries.
