Marsiling Flat Fire: Toddlers Rescued Amid Blaze

Swift Actions Save Two Young Lives

Two young children were saved from a fire that erupted late Wednesday night, 22 June, in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat at Marsiling.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received an alert at approximately 10:40 pm about the blaze at Block 218, Marsiling Crescent. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had engulfed a bedroom in a second-floor unit, with thick black smoke billowing out.

Police evacuated around 60 residents from nearby units as a precaution. Inside the affected flat, two toddlers were found conscious in the living room and were swiftly rescued by police officers. They were transported to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in SCDF ambulances for medical evaluation.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze using a single water jet. In a Facebook post, SCDF reported, “The entire unit suffered significant heat and smoke damage due to the fire.”

SCDF also acknowledged a passerby who tried to break down the door to save the toddlers before emergency services arrived. They plan to commend the individual for their quick-thinking efforts.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
