Mainstream Car COE Premium Jumps 4.6% to S$94,000

After November’s Drop, Prices for Some Vehicle Categories Increase in December

The Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premium for mainstream cars, specifically Category A, saw an increase of 4.6% or S$4,111 in December’s first round of bidding, reaching S$94,000. This surge follows a significant drop in November’s second round, where the premium for Category A cars fell by S$10,000 to S$89,889, marking its largest decline of 2024.

The Category A COE is applicable to mainstream cars with engines up to 1,600 cubic centimetres (cc) or cars with less than 97 kilowatts (kW) of power, including electric vehicles under 110 kW.

Meanwhile, the commercial vehicle category (Category C) saw a modest 1.9% increase, rising by S$1,289 to S$70,289. On the other hand, Category B, which applies to larger and more powerful cars, dropped by 2% or S$2,071, bringing the premium to S$103,010. The open category (Category E) also saw a 3.3% decrease, with premiums falling by S$3,500 to S$104,001.
