Children Aged 5–11 Encouraged to Participate in Research Trial
KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) has announced a call for children aged 5 to 11 to participate in a Covid-19 vaccination trial. This initiative aims to support the development of public health policies to protect children against the virus.
The trial follows Health Minister Ong Ye Kung’s recent update on the country’s progress in pediatric vaccine trials, with KKH spearheading this effort.
Eligibility and Participation
To qualify, children must:
Be between 5 and 11 years old.
Be unvaccinated for Covid-19.
Have no history of Covid-19 infection.
Volunteers will receive a form of reimbursement, though specific details have not yet been disclosed. Parents or caregivers can complete a screening questionnaire on behalf of eligible children to determine their suitability for the study.
Purpose and Context
KKH emphasised that data from this trial will inform vaccination strategies for children in Singapore. This study comes amid a noted rise in pediatric Covid-19 cases and aligns with a Ministry of Health press release indicating a likely decision on vaccines for children by the end of November.
Interested participants can access the screening questionnaire through KKH’s official communication channels.
