Leadership Change at Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower
Jeffrey Siow, the current managing director of Enterprise Singapore, has been appointed to the position of Second Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), effective January 1, 2024. At 45 years old, Siow brings a wealth of experience, having served as the principal private secretary to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong from 2017 to 2021.
Since taking the helm of Enterprise Singapore in September 2021, Siow has played a pivotal role in fostering business growth and development in Singapore. His leadership experience spans various government ministries, including MOM, the Public Service Division (PSD), Civil Service College, and the Education and Transport ministries.
The appointment is part of a broader leadership reshuffle within the Singapore public service. In related changes, Tan Gee Keow will step down from her role as permanent secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth (MCCY) but will retain her position as permanent secretary at PSD. Meanwhile, Teoh Zsin Woon, currently the permanent secretary for development at the Ministry of National Development (MND), will succeed Tan at MCCY while continuing her role at PSD.
