DPM Heng to Visit Brunei for Sultan Bolkiah’s 78th Birthday Celebrations

Singapore and Brunei mark 40 years of diplomatic relations.

Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat of Singapore will visit Brunei from July 14 to 17 to participate in the celebrations of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s 78th birthday. During his visit, Heng will attend key ceremonies including a royal guard of honour, an investiture ceremony, and a royal banquet.

The visit will also see Heng having an audience with Sultan Bolkiah and his wife, Raja Isteri Saleha, and engaging with Bruneian ministers and business leaders. Part of his trip will include a visit to a museum housing Islamic heritage artefacts from the Sultan’s personal collection, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, and an aquaculture farm.

This visit underscores the longstanding and special relationship between Singapore and Brunei, which is being further highlighted by both nations celebrating 40 years of diplomatic ties this year.
