Employers offering flexible work arrangements gain a competitive edge
Flexible work arrangements (FWAs) in Singapore have declined from their pandemic peak, but they remain a crucial factor for talent retention. While remote work is less common now, upcoming tripartite guidelines on FWAs aim to encourage more flexible shift timings and workloads.
According to a survey conducted in November 2023, workplace flexibility ranked among the top three reasons employees cited for considering job changes. National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) assistant secretary-general Yeo Wan Ling emphasized that FWAs have become a standard expectation and are key to attracting and retaining talent.
With companies adapting to a post-pandemic work culture, those that continue to offer flexible options hold a clear advantage in the job market.
