Coach Services Between Singapore and Malaysia Resume Post-Border Reopening

Travel Agencies Restart Coach Connections to KL, Genting, and More

SINGAPORE: With the full reopening of land borders between Singapore and Malaysia earlier this month, coach services to key Malaysian destinations, such as Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands, are back in operation.

KKKL Travel & Tours announced the resumption of direct services from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and Melaka, with further plans for routes to Genting Highlands, Tioman, and Port Dickson. The company revealed on its website that ticket prices for one-way trips to Kuala Lumpur range from S$19 to S$36, while trips to Malacca cost between S$23 and S$29.

In addition, WTS Travel confirmed that its coach services to Resorts World Genting have resumed, with tickets starting at S$85, available from nine locations in Singapore, including Ang Mo Kio, Jurong East, and Yishun. Another agency, Starmart Express, has announced 15 coach trips from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, priced at S$30 each.

The full reopening of the land border on April 1 marked the end of a two-year closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With this reopening, fully vaccinated travellers are now able to cross the border by land without the need for quarantine or COVID-19 testing. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority reported that more than 33,700 travellers passed through the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints on the first day of the reopening.

Moreover, the full reopening has had a positive impact on travel demand, with flight bookings from Singapore doubling after the announcement of the country’s reopening to all fully vaccinated travellers.
