Changi Airport Reclaims Title as World’s Best Airport 2023

Wins Multiple Skytrax Awards, Marking Its 12th Top Spot

Singapore’s Changi Airport has been crowned the World’s Best Airport in 2023 by UK-based consultancy Skytrax, reclaiming the title after a two-year hiatus. This marks the 12th time the airport has received the prestigious accolade.

A Triumphant Return
Changi Airport topped the global rankings this year, surpassing Qatar’s Hamad International Airport (2nd place) and Japan’s Haneda International Airport (3rd place).

After eight consecutive wins, Changi slipped to third place in 2021 and 2022 due to a sharp drop in passenger traffic during the pandemic. However, the resurgence of air travel in 2022 saw passenger numbers rise significantly, bolstering the airport’s recovery.

Multiple Accolades
In addition to being named World’s Best Airport, Changi secured two other awards:

World’s Best Airport Dining
World’s Best Airport Leisure Amenities
Skytrax highlighted Changi’s status as a major Southeast Asian hub, renowned for its exceptional passenger experiences.

Post-Pandemic Resurgence
Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, praised the airport’s recovery, noting passenger volumes are now at 80% of pre-pandemic levels and expected to return to full capacity by 2024.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of Changi Airport’s staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure its success,” Plaisted said.

Leadership’s Gratitude
Lee Seow Hiang, CEO of Changi Airport Group, expressed gratitude for the recognition:
“This achievement motivates our airport community, which united to overcome the challenges of Covid-19. We deeply appreciate the trust and confidence of our passengers and will continue striving for service excellence to enhance the Changi Experience.”

Global Benchmark for Excellence
The World Airport Awards, regarded as a benchmark of quality in the aviation industry, are based on feedback from passengers and customers worldwide through a comprehensive survey.

Changi Airport’s win underscores its resilience and commitment to providing world-class services, reaffirming its place as a global leader in the aviation industry.
