Government Plans to Upgrade National Broadband Network to Support Future Technologies
In a bid to stay ahead in the digital age, Singapore is allocating additional resources to enhance its national broadband network. Finance Minister Lawrence Wong announced that by the second half of the decade, Singapore aims to provide mass-market access to broadband speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second, a significant leap from current speeds.
This new infrastructure will support the growing demand for advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and immersive media, ensuring that Singapore’s connectivity remains robust and capable of meeting future technological needs. The planned speeds will be ten times faster than most current broadband connections in homes.
