Sustainability Efforts Aim to Boost Trade and Jobs, Industry Players Suggest
Starting from April 1, 2024, all statutory boards in Singapore will be required to publish annual sustainability disclosures, according to Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat. This move is part of the government’s broader effort to track and report progress on sustainability initiatives, which will be detailed in an annual report beginning with fiscal year 2023, ending March 31, 2024.
DPM Heng emphasized the importance of transparency in sustainability efforts, stating that such disclosures help decision-makers allocate resources more effectively. This initiative, launched at the National University of Singapore, aligns with global sustainability trends and aims to strengthen the country’s commitment to sustainable development.
Industry players believe the move could create trade and job opportunities by driving more sustainable business practices and providing clearer insights into the progress of various initiatives.
