Post-Pandemic Shift Toward Luxury, Wellness, and Thematic Travel Experiences
In response to changing consumer preferences following the pandemic, Singaporean travel agencies have been adapting their package tours to offer more luxurious, extended, and personalised travel experiences. The hiatus in leisure travel during the COVID-19 pandemic allowed many individuals to accumulate savings and leave days, which fueled a desire to indulge in longer and more unique vacations post-reopening. As a result, travellers are now seeking specialised itineraries, including wellness tourism, thematic holidays, and active tourism.
Travel experts, like EU Holidays’ director Wong Yew Hoong, attribute this trend to a shift in mindset, emphasizing the unpredictability of life and the importance of seizing travel opportunities. Agencies are catering to this change by offering bespoke, high-end packages that go beyond traditional budget-friendly options. Similarly, Fayyaz Travels’ marketing manager Sehar Mir pointed out a “mindset makeover” as travellers now prioritize customised and premium experiences over cost-saving measures.
The demand for more tailored and diverse trips signals a broader evolution in the travel industry, as Singaporeans increasingly look for unique and enriching travel experiences
