Financial support offered for training employees in global roles under new initiative
Singapore companies looking to expand internationally can now benefit from the newly introduced Overseas Markets Immersion Programme, which will help fund employee training for global or regional roles.
The programme targets mid-career hires or existing employees with limited overseas market experience. It aims to provide on-the-job, in-market training, particularly in roles related to technology, business development, and more. Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng shared this development during the Ministry’s Committee of Supply debate on March 4.
Tan emphasized that the programme would better position businesses to grow and compete in overseas markets by helping them build strong, globally-oriented teams.
The new initiative will work alongside leadership development programs like the Global Business Leaders Programme (GBLP), which was announced earlier by Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. The GBLP is designed to foster Singaporean leaders through overseas experience and a nine-month fellowship, allowing participants to gain mentorship and expand their professional networks.
More details about the Overseas Markets Immersion Programme and GBLP will be revealed in the coming months.
