Chan’s experience in digital disruption and public sector leadership set to benefit SPH Media Holdings
Chan Yeng Kit, the current permanent secretary of the Ministry of Health, will be appointed to the board of SPH Media Holdings from March 15. Chan, who is stepping down from his role as chairman of the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, including his role in overseeing the merger of IDA and MDA to form IMDA in 2016.
Khaw Boon Wan, chairman of SPH Media Trust, highlighted Chan’s “deep appreciation” of the challenges posed by digital disruption in the media industry and expressed confidence that his expertise will guide the team towards sustainable growth.
Chan’s leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic, where he was pivotal in formulating safe management measures, earned him the Meritorious Service Medal in 2022. He succeeds Russell Tham at IMDA, who will take over from March 15. Tham, the head of emerging technologies at Temasek, has been instrumental in advising IMDA on emerging digital technologies.
