New initiative aims to integrate expertise for better flight management
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will establish a new centralized air traffic control centre, combining the efforts of air traffic controllers, data scientists, and meteorological experts. This collaborative environment is intended to improve flight management by pooling expertise and resources, fostering better decision-making and innovation.
Announced by Senior Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor, the centre will support the growth of the aviation sector as passenger traffic rises globally post-Covid-19. It will also serve as a test-bed for advancing air traffic management in Singapore, especially with the increasing complexity from new airspace users like unmanned aircraft. The project is set to be rolled out gradually, but further details on its completion timeline have not been provided.
