Singapore may ease Covid-19 restrictions after June 13

PM Lee urges continued vigilance as community cases decline

If Singapore’s Covid-19 situation improves and community cases decrease, the government may relax Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) restrictions after June 13, according to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Covid-19 measures and future outlook
In a televised speech, PM Lee stated that Singapore is on track to control the outbreak, provided there are no super-spreader events or major clusters. The Heightened Alert period, which began on May 16, introduced strict restrictions, including a ban on dining-in. As of May 30, Singapore recorded 62,028 Covid-19 cases and 33 fatalities.

To ensure a safe reopening, the government is focusing on three key areas:

Faster and broader Covid-19 testing
Enhanced contact-tracing efforts
Accelerated vaccination rollout
Call for public cooperation
PM Lee urged residents to remain cautious, emphasizing:

Work from home where possible
Limit outdoor activities to essential needs
Seek medical attention if feeling unwell, even if vaccinated
With 13 days remaining in the Heightened Alert phase, he thanked Singaporeans for their discipline and resilience, encouraging continued collective effort.

“Every individual effort counts. Let’s move forward as one people, working towards a stronger and united Singapore,” he said.
