Bugatti unveils its first plug-in hybrid hypercar here; such models attract customers where pure EVs might not
On November 26, French ultra-luxury carmaker Bugatti unveiled its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in Singapore. The Tourbillon hypercar stands out not only for its top speed of 445 km/h and its multimillion-euro price tag but also for marking the company’s entry into the hybrid market.
Hybrids like the Bugatti Tourbillon are becoming increasingly popular in Singapore’s ultra-luxury car market, which remains dominated by vehicles with traditional engines. Full electric vehicles (EVs), while growing in number overall, are not as favored by the ultra-luxury car clientele. Industry experts suggest that the quietness and lack of dramatic flair in pure EVs fail to impress high-end car buyers, who are drawn to the power and performance of hybrids.
