State Visit Marks Strengthening Ties Between Neighbours
SINGAPORE: King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah of Malaysia, along with Queen Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, will embark on a state visit to Singapore from 25 to 27 October, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Monday (24 October).
During this visit, hosted by Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob, Their Majesties will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Istana. They are set to meet President Halimah, who will also host a state banquet in their honour.
One of the visit’s highlights will be an orchid naming ceremony at the Istana. A newly created hybrid, the Dendrobium Queen Azizah of Malaysia, will be named to honour the king and queen.
Additionally, the royal entourage, which includes members of the royal family and senior officials, will engage in key activities. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mrs Lee will meet the king and queen for discussions, followed by lunch.
The king is scheduled to tour Pasir Ris Camp with Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and visit the NEWater Visitor Centre alongside Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, further enhancing bilateral collaborations in defence and sustainability.
