Cross-Border Bus and Taxi Services Between Singapore & Malaysia to Resume on May 1

Reinstated Services Mark a Major Step in Post-Pandemic Connectivity

Starting May 1, 2022, public bus and taxi services between Singapore and Malaysia will officially resume, as announced by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on April 22. This follows the reopening of the land border in March for fully vaccinated travellers, a significant milestone after two years of pandemic-related disruptions.

Reinstated Bus Services
The cross-border bus services resuming include:

SBS Transit Ltd: Services 160, 170, and 170X
SMRT Buses Ltd: Service 950
Transtar Travel Pte Ltd: Services TS1, TS3, TS6, and TS8
These services will operate under the same schedules as before the pandemic, with timings from 5:20 am to 12:30 am daily. Commuters can expect:

Peak hours: Services 160, 170, and 950 running at intervals of up to 20 minutes, while 170X operates at nine-minute intervals.
Off-peak hours: Services 160, 170, and 950 running at intervals of up to 25 minutes, with 170X operating at 17-minute intervals.
For updated bus timings, commuters are encouraged to use the MyTransport.SG app or check operators’ websites.

Transition from Vaccinated Travel Bus Services
With the reinstatement of public bus services, the Vaccinated Travel Bus Services, previously operated by Transtar Travel Pte Ltd and Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, will cease operations from May 1.

Cross-Border Taxi Services
LTA, in collaboration with Malaysia’s Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD), will also reinstate taxi services between the two countries. Commuters can board cross-border taxis at Singapore’s Queen Street taxi terminal or book directly with licensed operators.

Preparations Underway
Bus operators have spent April redeploying and training drivers, as well as conducting route familiarisation, ensuring a smooth transition after the two-year suspension of these services.

The resumption of these cross-border transport options signals a return to normalcy, facilitating greater ease of travel and bolstering connectivity between Singapore and Malaysia.
