YCH Group and T&T Group Launch US$200 Million Vietnam Superport

Multimodal Logistics Hub Set to Revolutionise Vietnam’s Supply Chain Infrastructure

YCH Group, in partnership with Vietnamese conglomerate T&T Group, officially broke ground on Thursday for the Vietnam Superport, a US$200 million multimodal logistics hub in Hanoi. The project, which spans over 83 hectares, is the largest logistics infrastructure venture led by a Singaporean company in Vietnam and aims to strengthen the country’s growing logistics sector.

Set to become operational in 2024, the Superport will handle a cargo capacity of around 850,000 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units). The project’s development will take place in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed between 2022 and 2023, and the second phase scheduled for 2024 to 2025. This hub is poised to be the first of its kind in Vietnam, combining an integrated dry port with a cutting-edge supply chain nerve centre built around four core principles: connectivity, sustainability, scalability, and agility.

Strategically located in an area surrounded by 20 industrial parks, the Superport will be well-connected by road, rail, air, and sea, linking China’s Yunnan province to Hanoi and ultimately to Hai Phong international port. With logistics emerging as one of the fastest-growing sectors in Vietnam, the Superport is set to become a critical infrastructure asset supporting Vietnam’s burgeoning export industry and contributing to the country’s Industry 4.0 goals.

The project was initiated in November 2020 and is also expected to provide significant contributions to human resource development in the region. The hub will facilitate manufacturing operations in Hanoi’s Vinh Phuc province, anticipated to experience rapid growth as production increasingly shifts to Vietnam.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, which was attended by officials from both Singapore and Vietnam, including Singapore’s Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng, the importance of this collaboration was highlighted as a milestone in the two countries’ economic partnership. Tan expressed confidence that the Vietnam Superport would enhance regional logistics connectivity through technology and innovation, creating job opportunities for both Singapore and Vietnam companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises.

YCH’s executive chairman, Robert Yap, described the event as a significant step towards advancing supply chain excellence, with further investments already planned in Vietnam to expand warehousing capacity and develop additional logistics infrastructure. The project is also supported by the ASEAN Smart Logistics Network, which aims to improve intra-regional supply chain connectivity.
