Singapore Pools Academy Enhances Social Service Sector with Digital Training

Aiming to Support Workforce Development through Strategic Partnerships and Skills Initiatives

Singapore Pools is advancing its commitment to the social service sector by offering training programmes designed to foster digital transformation and equip professionals with new skills. Established in 2019, Singapore Pools Academy has forged partnerships with higher learning institutions to provide targeted training opportunities for both its employees and mid-career professionals interested in transitioning into the social service field.

A key initiative, the SgPools Academy-SP Connexion programme, launched in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and SkillsFuture Singapore, aims to prepare learners for roles such as business process specialists, programme management executives, and business analysts. This six-month full-time course includes a practicum, giving participants the chance to engage in industry projects with social service partners.

Singapore Pools’ CEO, Lam Chee Weng, noted that the company’s own digital transformation provided valuable insights that could be shared to support the development of Singapore’s social service talent pool. Despite challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the programme successfully delivered over 5,000 e-learning sessions.

The partnership with SP has extended to offering online training resources for social service agencies, helping them adopt essential software tools for data management, information sharing, and process automation. These resources, fully sponsored by Singapore Pools, are available free of charge to participating agencies.

With projections from SkillsFuture Singapore indicating the growth of the social service workforce to 19,000 by 2025, Singapore Pools is positioning itself as a key partner in the sector’s digital transformation. Through ongoing support and the delivery of practical, technology-driven training, Singapore Pools aims to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of these agencies, enabling them to better serve their beneficiaries.
