DHL and Tetra Pak Executives Charged with Receiving Over S$400,000 in Bribes

Senior Managers Allegedly Received Monetary Gratification in Exchange for Advancing Business Interests

Two senior executives, Edmund Hoon Wai Kein of DHL Supply Chain Singapore and Kelvin Tan of Tetra Pak Jurong, have been charged with corruption after allegedly receiving over S$400,000 in bribes. The bribes were reportedly given in return for advancing the business interests of Likok Logistics with both companies between July 2019 and June 2020.

Hoon and Tan face three counts of corruption, with Hoon also charged in connection with an alleged loan. In addition, both men are accused of conspiring to falsify invoices, with Tan facing an extra charge in this regard.

The charges also extend to three employees of Likok Logistics, including Chee Peng Chun, the general manager, who is accused of receiving approximately S$270,000 in bribes, and managing directors Tan Hook Beng and Tan Pei Fung, who allegedly provided bribes amounting to S$98,000 and S$382,000, respectively.

Furthermore, Chee faces additional charges for receiving bribes from logistics drivers between 2017 and 2020, allegedly in exchange for employment offers and preferential treatment.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) warned that Singapore maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, with penalties including imprisonment, fines, or both.
