Corad Technology Pte Ltd added to the US entity list amid security concerns
SINGAPORE: On November 24, the US Department of Commerce blacklisted Corad Technology Pte Ltd, the Singapore-based affiliate of Chinese firm Corad Technology Limited, over concerns regarding national security and foreign policy. The company was one of 27 entities newly added to the US entity list.
This move was part of a broader action that saw Corad Technology Pte Ltd, along with its affiliates in China and Japan, accused of facilitating the sale of technology to Iran’s military and space programmes, as well as North Korean front companies and Chinese defence entities. According to the Department of Commerce, these sales are deemed to contradict the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.
Corad Technology Pte Ltd, based in Ubi Crescent, provides circuit boards and probe card manufacturing services for the semiconductor industry. Following its placement on the entity list, Corad Technology and its affiliates will face restrictions on exporting or transferring US technology, with suppliers required to apply for a licence, which is likely to be denied.
The parent company, Corad Technology Limited, also has operations in Hong Kong and Taiwan and was first included on the US entity list in August 2019.
