Investigation Underway for COVID-19 Breaches at Unlicensed KTV in Singapore

44 Individuals Under Investigation for Violating COVID-19 Regulations at KTV Venue

Singaporean authorities are currently investigating 44 individuals for potential breaches of COVID-19 regulations at an unlicensed KTV outlet located in Tradehub 21, Boon Lay Way. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) reported that officers were alerted to the situation on January 1 when they received a tip-off about the illegal operation of the venue.

Upon arrival, officers found the group, aged between 17 and 34, allegedly drinking alcohol and socialising inside the unit. It is believed that public entertainment and liquor were being provided at the premises, breaching the nation’s COVID-19 safety measures.

As a result, 35 individuals are scheduled to face court charges on Wednesday for contravening the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, which restrict movement and gatherings. Those found guilty could face penalties including imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of up to S$10,000, or both.

Additionally, a 25-year-old man has been issued a notice of composition, and investigations continue for the remaining eight individuals involved. The police have made it clear that they will not tolerate actions that undermine public health and safety, asserting that anyone found violating safe distancing measures will face the full extent of the law.
