If you’re feeling like there’s not much to do around town lately, you’re not alone. The usual activities, like going to the cinema or shopping at the crowded malls, can leave you feeling unfulfilled. Instead of spending another weekend stuck in a routine, why not explore new ways to use your free time? Volunteering offers the perfect opportunity to make a positive impact and meet new people. From March to June, Youth Corps Singapore offers a variety of programmes that allow you to engage with diverse communities and make meaningful connections. Here are seven volunteering opportunities you can take part in:

For Seniors

Goodlife! Makan
If you’re someone who enjoys engaging conversations over meals, Goodlife! Makan could be the perfect place for you. This community kitchen, located at Marine Terrace, not only serves food but also provides a space for seniors to come together, cook, and share meals. The programme, Back In My Time @ Goodlife! Makan, promotes intergenerational bonding, allowing youth volunteers to interact with seniors through activities and discussions.

For People with Special Needs

SpecialHearts
Spend time with residents at the Thye Hua Kwan Home for the Disabled in Sembawang. Volunteers engage in creative activities like arts and crafts and music, helping to build friendships and a better understanding of the challenges faced by residents.

Play for All @ APSN
Youth volunteers collaborate with adults with mild intellectual disabilities in a series of fun mini-sport activities such as bowling, fostering interaction and enjoyment.

For the Environment

Greenies
If you enjoy the outdoors, Greenies offers a unique way to connect with nature while helping the environment. Volunteers kayak on Jurong Lake, picking up litter, and learn about the environmental impact of pollution.

For Migrant Workers

Exercise Programme with Migrant Brothers
This programme allows youth volunteers to bond with migrant workers through friendly sports activities like badminton and table tennis, promoting a healthy lifestyle and deeper connections.

For Children

Coding Games For Kids
In this programme, youth volunteers guide Primary 1-3 children through interactive coding games that teach both technical and soft skills like problem-solving and teamwork. The programme also offers physical sessions in May and June.

A Walk to Remember
History enthusiasts will enjoy guiding children through a heritage trail, sharing stories and engaging them in fun activities. For nature lovers, there’s also an option for a nature walk through the “A Walk in Nature” programme.
